Food Impacts the Libido

Few people really understand the overall impact of what we put in our body in regards to our libido. Every food will have some sort of impact. Some may be negligible, others may prove to have a dramatic impact in a positive or negative way.

The foods that are great for the libido all have something in common: they are vitamin rich. Vitamins, specifically Vitamin C, D, and E, have been proven to improve the libido, and provide a boost that can be felt for hours. Zinc is also a beneficial element that will work to improve the production of sex hormones.

Other foods have negative impacts. These are typically focused around things that slow our minds down dramatically. Stimulants, for example, can work to decrease the effectiveness of hormone production, and the decreased blood flow associated with stimulants can impact our reproductive organs themselves.

We will look at some of the best and worst foods for the libido. No matter how you slice it, what we put in our bodies does, in fact, have an impact on our entire body, including our libido.

Strawberries – Good
Strawberries have a certain stigma about them that associate them with sexual foreplay. For hundreds of years, people have enjoyed this delightful food in many facets of life (including the bedroom).

Strawberries promote circulation throughout the entire body. For both males and females, a good, strong blood flow is vital to reproductive health. For males, erectile dysfunction can be avoided with strong circulation to all areas of the body. The anti-oxidant make-up of strawberries promote cardiovascular health.

The presence of a high amount of vitamin C is another crucial aspect. For men, vitamin C has been proven to increase sperm count, as well as work to prevent impotence.

Alcohol – Bad
Remember the stimulant talk at the beginning of this article? This is what makes alcohol so bad. While it may be a type of ‘social lubricant’ that can allow people to gain the confidence to approach the opposite sex, too much can be a disappointing thing.

With a high blood alcohol level, the blood flow throughout the entire body is slowed down. Our mental processes decrease, and the speed at which we react to stimuli is greatly diminished. This can lead to problems for both men and women.

Alcohol also proves to limit sensitivity in our bodies. In this way, the subtle touches of sexual encounter may not have the same result in our reproductive systems as they normally would with a sober composition.

Avocados – Good
Avocados are a superstar when it comes to edible aphrodisiacs. There is a nutrient-rich chemical make-up present in avocados that is great, not only for the libido, but for the health of the human body in general.

The vitamin contents found in avocados are enough to make this list on their own. Vitamin E and B6 are some powerful dudes! Vitamin B6 promotes enhanced blood flow throughout the body, and has recently been believed to even delay heart disease.

The rich anti-oxidant make-up works to ensure that your heart health is at its peak. Your libido is at a higher level when harmful pathogens are held to a minimal level in the body. For those looking for a tasty, instant boost to their libido, look no further than a delicious avocado.

Steak – Bad
Okay, so this one may be painful for many of you to read about. Steaks are one of the most popular menu items for citizens in North America. There are some positive nutrients found in steak, most notably zinc and protein. However, the harmful side of steak far outweighs them.

Steaks are high in saturated fat. Saturated fat, along with cholesterol, increases the risk of type 2 diabetes. In addition to this harmful side condition, a diet that is high in saturated fat can promote high blood pressure and heart disease. If you have been paying attention to these articles, you know the importance of heart health on the libido. Steak can work to diminish heart health, and in turn, reduce the overall libido in men and women alike.

Almonds – Good
Almonds have the ‘trifecta’ of libido enhancing nutrients.

They are filled with zinc, selenium, and vitamin E. These work to promote heart health, and overall reproductive system health. Vitamin E is one of the most notable libido impacting nutrients on the planet. Almonds are packed with it!

Selenium can help prevent fertility issues in women, and increase sperm count in men. We have mentioned how powerful zinc is to the libido. It works to increase the production of sex hormones in men. This will give a big boost to the libido, and can be effective at a very rapid rate. A diet that is rich in zinc will have significant impacts on health. Please not, you shouldn’t exceed your daily need for zinc, as too much of it can have the opposite effect.

Fatty Foods – Ugly
There is nothing worse for the libido then a diet that is high in fatty foods. In a society that is packed with this type of food, you have to make a sincere effort to avoid them in excess.

Saturated and Trans fats have been proven to increase the risk of heart disease, and will decrease the bodies effectiveness in fighting off pathogens that can wreak havoc on the body.

A diet that has a high saturated fat content can dramatically increase the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The biggest issue with this is that the impact on the heart will decrease blood flow throughout the body. This will really limit the reliability of the sexual organs in men and women.

The libido is actually a pretty sensitive concept. While a large portion of this level can be attributed to mental impacts, a diet can have a significant impact as well. You should be careful to monitor what you are putting in your body. If you libido is suffering, there is a good chance that your diet is lacking in some key nutrients that it needs to flourish.
